  • Risk factors related to preventable infant mortality in Espirito Santo, Brazil

    2023, Heliyon
    Citation Excerpt :

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), millions of children die annually from preventable causes and treatable diseases, despite the scientific knowledge and technologies available [10]. Coupled with this, in recent years, several authors have developed systems to classify the causes of death as preventable or non-preventable, such as: Taucher [11], Wigglesworth [12], International Collaborative Effort on Infant Mortality (ICE) [13], State System of Data Analysis Foundation (SEADE) [14], and Brazilian List of Infant Death Preventability [15]. It is emphasized that these methods encompass, within their systems, the determinants for the occurrence of death.
