  • Amino acid administration to premature infants directly after birth

    2005, Journal of Pediatrics
    Citation Excerpt :

Age to regain birth weight was not statistically different; newborn infants in the intervention group regained their birth weight at day 8 (2-25) (median and [min-max]), those in the control group at day 10 (2-26) (P = .286). The currently available AA solutions are safe and can be administered to premature infants during the first few days of life.8-14 We performed the largest study to date confirming the safety and anabolic effects of early AA administration beginning within 2 hours after birth.
