2020, Clinical BiomechanicsCitation Excerpt :In hemiplegic CP, one side of the body is more impaired than the other, with right hemiparesis more common than left (Cárdenas et al., 2011; Golomb, 2009; Lynch, 2009; Lynch et al., 2002; Lynch and Nelson, 2001). In these children, the involved upper extremity (UE) is typically more impaired than the lower extremity, and may even present with neglect (Golomb, 2009; Lee et al., 2005; Murphy and Such-neibar, 2003; Trauner et al., 1993). This is of great concern to parents and therapists, as it can impact the child's ability to independently perform activities of daily living like eating, opening a bag, or brushing teeth.
