It was a safety initiative which aimed to reduce central line-related bloodstream infections in intensive care patients through introduction of care bundles for the insertion and maintenance of central venous catheters (CVCs). Successful reductions in infections from CVCs were realised for adult and paediatric patients.1 Neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) were also encouraged to join the MM programme, and 18 confirmed their intention to participate.
