    Chasing spurious hyponatraemia

    The need for a conservative approach to hyponatraemia in preterm neonates was emphasised in a recent issue.[1] It was interesting to note that chasing hyponatraemia (serum sodium: 124 mmol/l) during hyperglycemia requiring insulin infusion in a 1060g neonate was associated with fluid retention and patent ductus arteriosus (PDA).
