  This retrospective study followed 1900 infants born < 27 weeks’ gestation to two years’ corrected age. Infants undergoing delayed cord clamping had lower rates of death or severe neurodevelopmental impairment. The effect was not mediated by severe intraventicular haemorrhage.

  In this study, investigators demonstrate for the first time that newborns receiving low levels of CPAP pressure are able to exhale through the CPAP circuit.

• Diaphragm electrical activity during weaning of nasal high-flow therapy in preterm infants (12 October, 2022)

  Investigators in this manuscript examined electrical activity of the diaphragm (Edi) in 40 preterm infants during pre-specified weaning of high flow nasal cannula. Edi significantly increased only after the final wean from 2L/min of flow, suggesting increased work of breathing.

  Predictive models to determine the likelihood of lower respiratory tract Ureaplasma infection were developed based on perinatal clinical information available.These models may be useful in the design of clinical trials of therapeutic interventions to prevent Ureaplasma-mediated BPD.
