Original research
- Neonatal hyperglycaemia is associated with worse neurodevelopmental outcomes in extremely preterm infants (16 April, 2021)
Neonatal hyperglycemia itself is associated with lower IQ scores and worse motor outcome at 6.5 years, while insulin was not associated with poorer or better outcome in EXPRESS cohort survivors.
- Heart rate during the first 24 hours in term-born infants (15 January, 2021)
- Can EEG accurately predict 2-year neurodevelopmental outcome for preterm infants? (19 April, 2021)
Prospective single centre study of the use of EEG (at 3 gestational ages 72 hours after birth, 32 and 35 weeks corrected) to predict outcome in 57 preterm infants. the study suggest that EEG at 35 weeks is a predictor of outcome at 2years.
Short reports
- NeoBeat offers rapid newborn heart rate assessment (21 January, 2021)
This observational study of 28 relatively well newborn infants conducted in the delivery room demonstrated that a novel dry electrode ECG, the NeoBeat, displayed heart rate more quickly than conventional ECG or pulse oximetry.
