Inhaled Nitric Oxide in Neonatal Pulmonary Hypertension
2024, Clinics in PerinatologyWhen to say no to inhaled nitric oxide in neonates?
2021, Seminars in Fetal and Neonatal MedicineCitation Excerpt :Although iNO may improve gas exchange and lower pulmonary artery pressure in older preterm infants with ventilator-dependent BPD, it is not recommended to use iNO in preterm infants to prevent BPD without further studies (Fig. 3). Although the original case series reports of iNO in term neonates with PPHN included striking responders with CDH [47], a randomized controlled trial evaluating iNO in CDH did not demonstrate any benefit. Instead, there was a significant increase in the need for ECMO following iNO use [2].
