Postmortem MRI as an adjunct to perinatal autopsy for renal tract abnormalities

Abstract

The aim of this study was to compare post-mortem MRI of the renal system with autopsy in perinatal and fetal deaths. 37 deaths were studied of which five were found to have renal tract abnormalities. Postmortem MRI provided information of comparable diagnostic utility to that obtained by autopsy.
